TONGWE was established with a clear purpose: to connect Tanzania’s productive farming, livestock, fisheries and forestry communities with dependable markets through responsible trade, efficient distribution and lasting commercial relationships.
Across our country, farmers, livestock keepers, fishing communities and other producers work tirelessly to create valuable products. However, production alone is not enough. These products must be collected carefully, handled responsibly, transported efficiently and connected to customers who appreciate their quality and value. TONGWE exists to strengthen that connection.
Our activities cover food crops and legumes, fruits and vegetables, cash crops and oilseeds, fisheries, livestock, spices and seasonings, mechanised farming, wood and timber. This diversity reflects both the richness of Tanzania’s natural resources and the wide commercial opportunities available within our local and regional markets.
We believe that successful agricultural trade must begin with trust. Producers must trust that their work will be valued. Customers must trust the quality and reliability of the products they receive. Partners must trust our communication, documentation and commercial conduct. For this reason, integrity, transparency, quality and accountability remain central to the way TONGWE operates.
Our vision extends beyond individual transactions. We aim to build a strong and dependable value chain that creates lasting benefits for producers, customers, communities and the wider economy.
We want to support better market access, reduce avoidable product losses, encourage responsible handling and help Tanzanian products reach suitable markets in excellent condition.
TONGWE also recognizes the importance of technology and mechanisation in modern agriculture. Improved equipment, better production planning, careful storage, cold-chain support and efficient logistics can increase productivity while protecting quality. By combining modern solutions with the experience and knowledge of local communities, we can help create agricultural systems that are more organized, resilient and commercially sustainable.
